I want a man by my side; not a boy to run and hide

Someone to take my hand and start to lead

Not take my home to be crowned king

Someone I CAN go without seeing for a day

Cause those kind seem needy and they always began to fade

The man that’s for me is truly one of a kind

He’s not Prince Charming; I already have a Savior, Jesus is mine

We are all destined for great things in life

So we can’t surround ourselves with people that will put out our light

But as hard, crazy, and lonely as this world stays

We all need someone to tell you, they thought of you today

So as I patiently wait for my Father to finish the mold

I trust in Him for the finest silver and gold

A man eager to spread God’s grace to help set the captives free

That my friend, is the man destined for me

Man is born to live, not to prepare for life. - Boris Pasternak

@JennDTX Oh, I love this! You truly handled the different "topics/parts" of this poem well. The first involving not the perfect man but the RIGHT man for you is given good detail since you basically tell what you want and what you don't want. The second part in which you credit Christ for being the perfect and holy One is sudden but you explain it extremely well. I like that you further incorporated the two parts by explaining why you might need a partner-for strength and support against the darkness. The third part in which you incorporate the other two again by giving God the credit for making the destined man, one He decides and molds, is beautiful. Wonderfully written!
