I. I know a girl who's
And so wonderful and amazing I can't even comprehend it.
II. I know a girl who
Opened her wrists
In hopes that it would
Leech out all of her demons and let her go.
III. I know a girl whose
Mind is so infinite
Comparing her to the universe
Isn't good enough.
IV. I know a girl who
Wanted so badly to be free
Three times she tried to break out.
Three times she didn't quite make it.
V. I know a girl who
Still fills my world with light
Even if it's with a few scattered words.
VI. I know a girl who
I want to save
Even if it'll pull me back into the dark.
VII. My world is never dark with her.
VIII. Her world is so shadowed.
IX. Maybe it's time I turned on a light.
I enjoyed this one. It tells a story and ends in a revelation. I always like a good ending that could be the start of an even better story.
Lovely piece. My daughter recently created a found poem based on the concept of perfection and how we view it, specifically as young women. If you're interested, you can see it here on my poetry site: http://trishhopkinson.com/2014/04/12/my-daughter-finished-her-first-found-poem/
