another day passes
sitting in my chair
i share the bareness
of the uneven floor
with shadows
only i can see

the door is always locked
proof against the stray
anyone and what they have
to say as if anyone had anything
worthwhile they could say

i know the ticking of the clock
that stopped for me some time ago
though time itself goes on
and on throughout the day
even as i sleep
i know that

even as i stare ahead
inviting blankness
and numbness
and the rest

without the promise of your sight
why see
without the prospect of your touch
why feel
without your sweet, sweet smile
without your body loving mine
without you
why me

why did you have to die

another day passes
winter now
always winter
never again spring
and i sit
seeing shadows
only i can see

I love the narrative nature of this one... You also incorporate the questions such as "why?" into your stanzas very well. It almost seems effortless, and I know for me it is often a challenge. This poem also has a nice, tranquil tone even though it is also somewhat sad. Lovely word choices and painting again!
