Creatures of the Eve

Far in the forest

Within the shadows

Step out the creatures

On one holy night;

They hear the sounds

Of bells in the steeples

And see the lights,

Bobbing flames

Of candles in windows.

Leaves crunch under hooves,

and snow falls to the ground;

On this one sacred night,

Every creature is found.

Birds fly from their nests,

And frost-covered foxes

Flee their warm, dark dens;

All come as one, woken

From their icy woods

To greet the Christmas

Star-such a shining light.

The sky is dark, yet the Eve

Is inviting-both man and beast

Gather together, these creatures

Unalike, under the single star bright.
