-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I stand watch as dark clouds roll in and cover the majority of the innocent in our generation. I tremble as confused children force the dawn, because they feel like they belong in the night. A dark place.

If you've ever been depressed, ever been so afraid that you couldn't even speak, you must know what it's like to take refuge inside your mind. You isolate, you hide from the light until the sun sets. You come to life with the moon cycle, but even in those torturous daylight hours, you find yourself in a darker place.
Always a darker place, always the night.

For some...they reach the twilight through intoxication; drugs and alcohol. And some simply lock themselves in their room and turn their music up so loud that no one hears them crying.

It's all the same. They're all hurting, and in the end, addiction or no addiction, they're all looking for a place to hide.
A dark place.
And sometimes, it feels so right to be living in the night that you give up trying to find the sun again.

I remember how it feels. I remember hiding, and being so afraid of my world crashing down around me that I wouldn't even try to build a world to begin with.
I was that kid who locked himself in his room, listening to songs that simply gave more fuel to the never ending depression.
I always wanted to be alone, no matter how lonely I got. I wrote down my evil thoughts, and filled my notebooks with the darkest kinds of poetry.
And everyday, I wondered if today would be the day I finally cracked, and make the decision to end my life.
But that day never came, the sun kept setting, and I'd survive another night.

Now, I got lucky. I got the help I needed. My family was patient, and their was this girl....she made me feel like I'd never be alone if I ever needed to talk.
I didn't realize back then how unfair it was to turn to her like that.

Not everyone gets the help they need. Not everyone has a patient family, or understanding friends. So they wait for the night, they search for that darker place.

People are throwing their lives away, and they don't even know how much potential they have, how vital of a role they have that only they can play.
Everyone has a purpose for being here. Never forget that.

Maybe it's okay to drink now and then, or use music to escape your pain for a while, but you can't just give up...like I did.
I would've never came around if I didn't have people to pick me up when I fell. And you have to realize that no one is going to help you if they don't know just how bad you're really hurting. You don't have to scream it to the world, but find someone that you think will understand, and let them know.
And never stop, keep trying until you find a resolution that makes you happy, because that's all that really matters....that you're happy.

And it's so sad to think....that sometimes you've got nothing coming. No hero is going to burst from the shadows to take you to a better place.
Life is never fair.
That's when you pray, whether you believe in God or not, that you can heal, that you can be saved from your pain. That's when you listen to closely to the sounds coming from the surrounding darkness. Behind all the nightmares that scream through the silence, you can hear your calling. You can hear those who need you, begging you to run from the night, to find them. There are people in this life, waiting for you, that would love to love you.

Outside of the night, away from that dark place, there is a place where you belong. Go find it, you might change someone's life by changing yours.

Everyone has a purpose for being here. Never forget that.

“I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious”
