Amazon gift card problem

Hopefully, there is a simple way to solve this.

I tried using my Amazon.com giftcard a week ago. It worked fine but because it is a .com voucher and I am British, the shipping costs alot and about half of my voucher since everything comes from USA.

Does anyone know if there is a way to swap a voucher from the .com to .co.uk Amazon sites as this would mean that I would have to pay no shipping fees?? I have emailed Amazon about it but they haven't replied yet.

If there isn't a way to change it then that's OK but for future contests could the giftcard come from the winner's country's Amazon site? So say if someone from USA won then they got $60 from Amazon.com but if someone from Britain won they could receive a £45 (roughly the same) amazon.co.uk giftcard.

Otherwise when the prize is $20 or less I can spend only $5 of that and have to pay $15 shipping. But with a .co.uk giftcard I could spend £10 and very little on postage.

P.S. I thought that I would post this here instead of message the admin or mods because I didn't know if anyone else from outside USA had experienced this problem. Or hopefully, has a solution to the first part.

Wow Jam. Great question. I never thought about other countries not having the same Amazon.  I'm sure someone will let you know something soon.

@Jamboree it appears Amazon.com giftcards are not usable at Amazon.co.uk

Since Thoughts Inc. is U.S. based we have always given out Amazon.com cards, however, we will look into what we can do for future contests and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
