Thank you, Forgewright! I completely agree; I have found many of the other entires wanting as well, but this contest is a bit like voting for the senior class president in high school. It should be merit-based, but it's based on popularity. What makes it different, however, is that it allows an influx of new entires every week, and to make it fair for them, the voting resets to zero. However, that makes it unfair for the rest of us who have been in it for weeks and long since exhausted our most enthusiastic voters. Many of the stronger contestants are now grazing the bottom because they gave up. I just didn't want to take this lying down, so I keep fighting and trying to find new ways to get votes because I do believe I deserve my high ranking. I have worked hard and have never been below 22, and while I know I don't need to win for validation or to succeed, I want to win for the title, the money, and to keep it from going to someone who just threw something together in the last week and had a large twitter following.
If I don't win, that's okay. I have learned a lot about self-marketing and e-publishing, and I will use that as I start publishing my own books and short-stories, and ultimately that knowledge is invaluable. Thank you again!
Great attitude. The experience you gain is most valuable and I hope you can take some time to share some of it with us after you WIN!!!!
If anyone has ideas for Kelly to help gain exposure maybe you can post them here. How about making a wiki page on yourself and the story? Who among us has that?
You could create an ad on google for 20 dollars, it would run for a few days for that much.
Follow every writer you can on twitter and make friends with other writers on face book and tweet, tweet, tweet.
Connecting with writers that understand what you are doing would be a great way to market yourself.
I've never tried it so I'm just guessing and brainstorming.
Finals will be starting in a couple of days, and I'm hoping I can count on those of you who voted for my nomination to vote for me again in the final. I am so grateful for the help of every person who took the time to read and vote for Ambient Light. Over the weekend I built a website (both web and mobile versions!), so I would be thrilled if you wanted to find out more about me and other things that I write. Take a moment to see some of my other facets and keep in mind that more will be revealed soon! Thank you all again! http://www.kellenekillmer.com
It's time for the final battle round! I am one of only fourteen writers chosen out of more than 450. I've worked very hard to get to this point, and it's really important that you vote for me now! In the final round, you must vote in all seven pairings, choosing one author or the other, in order for your vote to count. I hope you vote, and I hope you choose me! http://www.ebookmall.com/americasnextauthor
I need two things from every single one of you this week. I need you to take two minutes to vote for me in the America's Next Author finals, which end in a few days and currently have me placed 11th out of 14 finalists. I also need you to spend $2 to buy my two Kindle eBooks on Amazon.com, which will boost my sales ranks and help me get more exposure. Please help me out! I am publishing and promoting completely by myself, and I hate begging for attention, but I need to. A little bit goes a very long way! Your two minutes and two dollars today could change my life tomorrow! Thank you!
