I knew Mordred long before I met him
On the misty isle when the light grows dim
A valiant knight in radiant fair
Visions of him, child and man, always there
Born to the line of noblest princes
A face so fair the mind it convinces
Indeed, that good and brave of heart he be
Yet sent to his death by kingly decree
As a child with past of darkest night
Born of Christian king from evil pagan rite
Saved and raised by Avalon's Lady
into the high court with past so shady
To fight, to win his kingly father's love
Rejection, a stain, like blood on a dove
Secrets, dark and cold, discovered and shown
To the high king, now his grim choice alone
Treason, a trial, painful uprising
Death of loyalty, traitor surprising
Sir Lancelot, a friend, like a brother
Unfaithful queen, with her knighted lover
Chivalry lost, honor forgotten, now
Death in fire, for breaking a sacred vow
Saved by her lover, through guiltless blood
Dreams of Camelot, lost in sinful flood
Bastard son now heir to the high king's throne
Heir now even to the sword from the stone
His father now gone and off at the war
Still, sinful Christian queen, does him abhor
He's marching to war, his father to save
An action I see, leads to his grave
Morgan le Fey, does lay curse upon them all
Father fights son, both now are doomed to fall
From the mists of my home now I depart
To watch fate strike him down with savage dart
His blood is now shed though I hold him close
From broken body his spirit now goes
Alone am I left with blood on my hands
Forever to walk these empty strands
Visions of past and future do follow
This darkest tale leaving me hollow
