Yep, got a brand new respect for them tiny lil dive bombers............. I just didn't listen to my gut. At least a four legged critter tryin to do you harm........... eff, easy........... just blast em............. I now know that wasps view a pressure washer as a pu$$y weapon. I'm thinkin the exterminator gets a call next time. I been absomutherfugginmiserable these last few days................

Cmon @uniquelylost............... On my worst day I coulda ripped Wm Shakyspear in half. Fear his sting??? I think not! And quite honestly I had thought that my lack of planning for this event was less than stellar. I know carb cleaner is a bad idea with zero thought............... eff up the brick............eff up the soffit................then there's the chance that a flaming goey ball of burning wasps nest will fall on you.................. Pressure washer did get rid of the nest and didn't mess anything up....................... cept me!

To clarify, when I've seen my husband use that technique it was on items that were not flammable... metal patio table, BBQ, etc. We did have some on the house... and truthfully, no idea how he got those down, but he did not get stung as far as I know. @Killerelite I think you had a nest of wasps gone wild!

Try standing from afar and reading poetry to them next time. The whole Peter Piper deal.

Oh, Winged paratroopers

Hold still amongst the night

and bring thy sting to naught

lest I smite you little bastards

with a can of WD40, you little...

why I oughta...

@tlhopkinson to put this one to rest. While I may be considered less than superbly intellectual for my wasp removal tactics, I believe myself to have made a stellar retreat while under heavy fire and duress. I had already known that your husband would not be foolish enough to take a blow torch (can of carb cleaner and lighter) to his own home. I had gone as far as I would ever go in that regard having blown a hole in the kitchen wall of our farmhouse dispatching an angry raccoon that took up quarter there in the middle of the night. Firing a twelve gauge magnum inside the confines of one's home is an ill advised cure as is a flaming can of carb cleaner being aimed at one's domicile.............

@Forgewright your advice on the whole Peter Piper deal has been considered and dismissed as a plausible means ridding my residence of wasps should I find the need to do so in the future. In so far as the wd40 goes, while I believe there is a can somewhere about this place, I am sure that the warning label reads in fine print NOT to spray it on wasps as it may be known to boost their testosterone level..............................

LOL I read interpreted that quote a little different @Killerelite

In other words- If anything be waspish best beware, i have a lot of bees and wasps around my house... it sucks to get stung... most I've gotten at once is maybe 3-4 stings though.

The best way to get rid of bees is with smoke because it puts them to sleep.... it's how they harvest honey.

But if you use a big flame you don't necessarily have to burn the house, as soon as that flame gets anywhere near the hive they will all come out and fly right into the flame.... then there's a lot less to get stung by.... either way I'm no exterminator so what do I know....  but I found this video on Youtube lol

I see some damage to the surrounding area so a house nest is out of the question. You can see little flaming bees trying to escape. some sorrow but good riddence.

I kind of have to agree with Forge. On anything wood related it just seems like a really complicated way to start your house on fire. I know the whole thing didn't burn but that's because it's green wood. Had it been a dry year there the whole thing would have went up.
