In life there are moments unlike any other,

Moments of toil and struggle and strife;

These moments make and demand and break,

These moments the milestones of life.

They are hard to reach lest any fool call himself grown-

Yet it is the sacrifice then happiness that follows

Which makes a milestone one’s own.

Thought provoking poem. The theme is tightly woven. It's like marking your height on the door frame when you were a kid.
