Pen in hand I sat......... Literally. Like a bump on a stump staring at a blank page. My lack of writing in the recent past has caused a sort of disparity......... Intending to write the most articulate and grand poem since the first poem was penned........... I had to get away from that infernal computer with it’s keyboard prompting my fingers to piece together words. And the monitor mocking me. Yet I sat like a stone at my desk......... Nothing........... Distractions a plenty but no words...... Just frustration. I can’t remember the last I wrote anything that was of any decent poetic sort. Not true really........ I penned a poem the other day to someone deserving of so much more than mere words.......... Personal..... Heartfelt......... Untimely.........Awkward....... And not good writing at all in my opinion. No edit....... no re read. Just written then sent. Oh that stupid effin send button! Like the self serve gallows just insert your head in the noose and pull the lever. There should be a prompt for computer tards like me.......... “Are you sure?” If I’d have gotten that prompt, FUCK NO I’m not sure........... Let’s think about this a moment. But I dove head first into shark infested waters and pressed the goddamn send button. Got me ass chewed on and am now waiting to bleed out so they may feast on my carcass....................
Whoever coined the term writer’s block was clueless.......... It’s not a block it’s a fuckin dam. One resurrected to make one think of anything but writing......... And the distractions........ Doorbell! If it ain’t God I’m going to rip the arms off whoever stands there and beat them with the bloody ends............. Phones............ House then cell in succession............ Bam! Then I was saved momentarily and given a temporary reprieve........... My lil chocolate dog saunters up and puts her head on my leg and looks at me............ With compassion? Nope it’s just time to take a walk.......... So I break out laughing out loud and do just that............ Returning to write what you now read........... More bullcrap and bitchin but it’s all I can muster for now. But I’m not one bit remorseful cuz I’m here aren’t I. Though it’s worthless tripe I’m spewing for your eyeballs to gather............ I AM HERE! And I will write something! Eventually.......... While the rest of you poets pen with ease my brain is clogged like a constipated goat and I seek inspiration........
And I’ll find it somewhere........... Or it’s just that my Alzheimer’s is starting early. In which case I’ll have hiding my own Easter eggs to look forward to..............

Thanks for the sparing of your comments ........... I think. In hindsight since reading that I'm probably lucky. Glad it made you smile @tlhopkinson ....... I had to write about not being able to write in order to just write a poem about the ocean........ Probably one of a thousand or more........ I really must make more of an effort to stay the hell away from computers.........

I need to do the same for TV. I don't think I read enough, but I have a hard time finding time to do so. Problem is, reading gets my mind going, and I can't turn it off after, hence, no sleep. I seem to have to have 30 minutes of TV before trying to go bed at night. Sometimes that extends to an hour or so. Maybe I'll try reading until a half hour before bed. Computers? Well, stuck with those I'm afraid. Everything I do these days, except read books, for which I still prefer the turning of paper pages.

TV sux............ I feel like a captive just setting staring at the screen.......... And feel like I've got something more pressing to attend whether or not I actually do............ I'm reading a book that I can't wait to finish and am sorry I started........ Dietrich Bonhoeffer.......... Nuff said....... Did you ever just pick up a book at B&N and not know why?

Nope, always have a neverending stack of books at home with good intentions and not near enough time to read them. I've still never even finished Moby Dick. I'm knee-deep in the latest Chuck Palahniuk right now. It's a fast read tho, I'll finish it soon and move on to something else. This one isn't as good as some of his others.

Not a substitution, completely different for sure. One is pure entertainment... the other requires brain power I seldom have after a week of mind-numbing work. If I can't give it proper attention, I tend to let is sit until I can.
