Slow Saturday, just before noon,

Simon and Garfunkel hit the waves

with sentiment strong, realization surrounds

my outer skin and permeates within.

I am not a rock, but sometimes I am an island…

Books defend like a drawbridge over the mote and

poetry protects like tortoise shell over soft organs.

I stretch my neck and poke out my face to find

my view turned upside down and feel with my feet

for a stone to leverage and squirm myself right.

Flip me over, turn the cover, cross the gutter,

out of shadows, into meadows, eating primrose,

biting branch of olive, losing myself to love.

As an island, I never cried.

a/n: This one morphed on me mid-write and now I don't know what to do with it... I think it needs a new beginning, or maybe something to help transition from the first five lines into the rest. Anyway, got frustrated looking at it without inspiration for correction, and I need to get my butt up and do something constructive with my day... so tell me what you like, what you don't, and any suggestions for what it's missing will be appreciated!

Lol. Bit of a downhill, lost my brakes kinda ending. But still has a lot of meaning. Very understandable for a lazy saturday morning. I don't know about you but Ohio is kicking in a beautiful sunny day. It is so nice out.

I fear should I offer 'feedback' Naniwahine it would be read and discarded before you stopped scoffing. There are simply too many word combinations in our language to perfect any single or multiple thought brought to light in a poem.  I opt for your slogan and the benefit it brings if read and given thought.

Does the Viking dance when the donkey plays guitar?

Lol, too funny. Stopped the DVR after watching breaking bad and previous channel is some twangy bluegrass band. Info says they are called Skeeter and Skidmarks. Just then I scrolled to the donkey playing guitar. The soundtrack of the moment... Made me smile ;-) .

@Killerelite, my art is always a work in progress... I love to hear what others think or may suggest, I live work shopping, but I also understand your sentiment above as well.

I definitely know you to be a busy little word working somebody. I have always thought of poetry as a one time expression of one's thoughts or feelings at the time a poem is created. When I woke from my nap (wine induced coma), the above comment is what I came up with......... what was I thinking? .................. I like the donkey better................... carry on.
