His Shadow Guides Me

3rd place- freeverse poetry contest

His Shadow Guides Me  written by: Forgewright

Shaded by shadow, held aloft by a tree

Amid thoughts of pure serendipity

I am a swain of her affections so fair

Nay, my soul without her, lingers bare

Thereby concealing my heart’s exposure

Vanity rallied to brace my composure

Anguishing thoughts imbue my attentions

Living for naught, aside valid intentions

Every occurrence of her inflowing my view

Nightly renditions in dreams will ensue

Tonight’s prayer to him that rules over passion

Is please let her fall for me in like fashion

Natural courses take a lifetime to finish

Every tick of the clock my chances diminish
