It’s been a few years since i’ve last checked this site. The layout has changed, it looks like its been updated, but members and admins are still inactive. I miss it. I miss the contest and sharing our writing and giving feedback. It was a nice community, and it suddenly disappeared one day. I remember one of the admins said that they had a…[Read more]

  • I’ve noticed the same.  I haven’t been on very much, but I also haven’t missed how Thoughts isn’t nearly as active as it used to be and I haven’t seen any of the regulars on for months.  I’m beginning to get concerned as well.

  • @craigb12

It’s supposed to be a stash of some kind of food.  I left it open for people to decide, but when I was writing it, i was thinking about my addiction to mini m&ms.

  • In one of my recent posts, i mentioned how my class played a game that was basically like Mad-Libs for playwriting.  Well, I need to meet a 25 page deadline by Friday, and i don’t know what to write about, so i thought i’d give this game another go!  Heres how it can work…

There are a total of 4 prompts i need filled, and you can only pick…[Read more]

  • I’m taking a playwriting class this quarter in school, and the professor will occasionally give up prompts or challenges to write with.  The challenge for this piece was the following:

Write a play in which there is a problem, but never actually say what the problem is.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

In your opinion, if I were to write something like this out normally (such as in a sentence or paragraph) and then put it in a format like you see, does that take away it’s ability to be classified as Poetry?

Also, to anyone with experience with writing song lyrics, what would you say the main…[Read more]

Written for a Poetry scholarship contest.  The prompt was to write about something we find uplifting.

  • A stream gently flowing through a lush green forest

As the sun shines through the canopy above,

Casting a golden glow onto the water

As a robin bathes in its cool embrace.

A young fawn trailing her mother

    Through the morning dew,

Falling behind as she discovers the world

In which she lives and breathes before

    Frolicking…[Read more]

I need to spread my wings

    but theres no room here

    for me to fly.

    I need to get out,

where there is plenty of space

    to float with the clouds.

    But the doors are locked

    and the windows don’t open.

    So i’m left

    trapped behind the door,

    only able to look

    but not touch

    or smell

    or feel.

  • Also, I suppose it may have come across that way, but I wasn’t just trying to suggest it was only white people spewing hatred or receiving it.  Except for that one example I tried to avoid using any specifics.  I was trying to say how its everyone, not just white people. ‘The oppressed doing the oppressing’ could refer to any number of groups of…[Read more]

  • I’ve posted this in multiple places and it’s really interesting to see the varying responses I have been getting.  My opinion on the issue is based off of what I have observed amongst High School and College students, but quite a bit of it comes from blogs or other posts I have read online (not a great source to base an opinion on I know).…[Read more]

  • This is my opinion based off of what I have observed for a few months now, but there is a scary amount of people out there whose idea of “equality” is simply being the next top dogs and oppressing those who oppressed you.  People say it is only fair, and that they deserve it; thinking of and treating them the exact way they had treated you.  There…[Read more]

  • Congratulations to the winners!  It was a fun idea to have to choose from a list of words to use in our pieces.  It was amazing to read what everyone came up with.

  • Congrats to KC and tlhopkinson and thank you to everyone who voted!

  • Congratulations to Grace C, and thank you to everyone who voted.  It was really cool to see entries for flash-fiction as well as some other new writing styles that I haven’t read much of before.  Then of course, Happy Birthday (late or early?) Thoughts Inc.!
